This painting reveals a dinosaur emerging from the vibrant foliage of a mango tree, evoking memories of family gatherings at my vacation home in Guatemala. A stream has overflowed its banks, yet the dinosaur remains unfazed by the changing landscape. A common occurrence in our home town, the streets outside the house flood and turn to rivers, but residents have adapted incredibly well.
“The Mango Tree” also features a unique masking effect, giving the dinosaur and the water a glossy, glittering appearance when light is shined on, while the surrounding environment is coated with a matte finish. This creates a striking contrast that enhances the overall composition.
